Graduates will be eligible for registration as a medical practitioner by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. It is hoped that many of the School's graduates will practice in the Western Sydney region, in order to redress the shortage of healthcare professionals in the area.

There are approximately 120 medical students in each intake .Twenty five percent of places are available for university graduates. Preference is given for students who have lived for five years or more in Western Sydney postcodes. Support is also given for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island students. Some positions are available for students who commit to serving rural communities following graduation.

Obstetrics and Gynaecology is taught largely in Year 4 of the five year program in 9 week blocks.

The two main clinical venues are Campbelltown and Blacktown Hospitals. There are Associate Professors of Obstetrics and Gynaecology located at each Hospital.

Dr Mike O'Connor received his secondary education in Western Sydney before attending the University of Sydney and so it is a particular honour to return to his origins and serve that community.
